Tourism Minister Yehia Rashed

Tourism Minister Yehia Rashed discussed with the French ambassador in Cairo Stéphane Romatet means of increasing the flow of French tourists to Egypt.

The two sides also discussed Rashed's participation in the39th edition of the IFTM Top Resa - MAP Pro trade fair, set for France from September 26 to 29.

They stressed the importance of beefing up the number of direct flights between the two countries.

Talks also took up the Tourism Ministry's program to promote tourism and increase revenues from the tourism sector.

For his part, the French ambassador expressed his country's readiness to cooperate with the Tourism Ministry to increase the number of French tourists in Egypt. 

He lauded efforts exerted by the Egyptian government to secure archaeological sites, expecting the number of French tourists visiting Egypt to increase in the coming period.

He also suggested to link some Egyptian archaeological sites to each other, like linking the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is situated adjacent to the Giza Plateau, with the Giza pyramids via chairlifts and the Karnak Temple with the Valley of Kings.

He also called for benefiting from the 150th anniversary of establishing the Suez Canal in 2018 to promote the Egyptian tourism in France. On December 15, 1858 – Ferdinand De Lesseps established the "Compagnie Universelle du Canal Maritime de Suez", with Said Pasha acquiring 22% of the Suez Canal Company. 

IFTM Top Resa - MAP Pro trade fair aims to become the single most privileged platform for all major players in the industry. The fair has become today a true multi-segment event bringing together in one place leisure, business, events and groups at a French and international level.
