The interior of the former presidential palace of deposed Tunisian President Ben Ali The brother of Osama Bin Laden, Saudi businessman Tarik Bin Laden, is looking to buy properties confiscated from the former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. Sources told Arabstoday that he intends to buy one of Ben Ali’s houses, adding that Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali met with the former Minister of Tourism Tijani Hadad on Sunday to clarify Hadad’s mediating role between the Tunisian government and Bin Laden’s brother.
The Saudi businessman visited Tunisia in December to meet with a number of Tunisian and American investors, where he expressed his admiration for one the aforementioned presidential palace. Official governmental sources have not issued any comment on Bin Laden’s visit, however Tunisian officials announced that they would sell over 30 pieces of jewelry possessed by the former Tunisian first lady on January 10.
There was much demand for the Minister of Culture to protect the Tunisian heritage, calling for the adoption of a similar approach to that adopted by the Russians in the Bolshevik revolution.
