Egyptian Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim Cairo – Akram Ali Egyptian Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said on Thursday that the Ministry of the Interior will ensure the safety of protesters during the June 30 march – regardless of political affiliation.
The minister said during a meeting in the public security institution in Cairo on Thursday that the Egyptian police work to serve the citizens and give priority to protecting the homeland. He stated that those who say otherwise are “ignorant.”
Ibrahim called on those who intend to demonstrate to remain peaceful and abide by the law. He added that freedom of expression is part of democracy.
A protest will be held in Cairo,Egypt by anti-government groups calling for early presidential elections.
The minister asserted that the ministry cares for comprehensive security and is committed to continuous training to raise the efficiency of security as Egyptian society changes and develops.
The minister pointed out that the security forces will not tolerate \"dangerous criminal behaviour” on the day - referring to the cabinet approved draft law that extends punishment to those who attack policemen.
