Pope Francis leading Mass at Air Defense Olympic Village

Vatican Pope Francis is leading Mass at the Air Defense Olympic Village, with six Catholic denominations taking part.

Attending Mass is Egyptian Catholic Bishop Ibrahim Is'haq.

About 25,000 Egyptian Copts are also present.
Pope Francis prayed for peace in the Middle East and the world.

He also prayed to God to protect Egypt and its president.

Attending the Mass were a number of public figures, politicians and foreign ambassadors in Cairo.
Bishop of Egypt's Catholic Copts Ibrahim Is'haq also addressed the gathering.

He thanked Pope Francis for accepting the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb and Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese to visit Egypt.

Egypt has always been a safe country and had been the haven of the Holy Family, Is'haq noted.
