The United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

The UN Security Council will hold a session on Ukraine on Tuesday at 10pm Moscow time ahead of elections in Donbass planned for November 11, a diplomatic source told TASS on Tuesday.

The idea to hold a session was put forward by Western countries - US, France, UK, Sweden, the Netherlands and Poland, the source said. "Upon the Russian initiative, the session will be held in the open format," the source added.

The decision to hold elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) was made after the death of DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko in a terrorist attack. Moscow said holding local elections in Donbass is a necessary measure in the current conditions.

Russia's envoy to the Contact Group on Ukraine Boris Gryzlov said that the Package of measures signed in Minsk regulates only municipal elections in Donbass. Since electing leaders and parliaments of DPR and LPR is not classified as municipal, it does not contradict the Minsk process, he added.
