Sayed Moawad (R) has been a key member of Ahly’s squad since joining from Ismaily in 2008 Al Ahly's injured left-back Sayed Moawad should be fit to play in the side's Confederation of African Football (CAF) Super Cup fixture against Congolese side Leopards, later this month , squad doctor Ihab Ali has confirmed.The 33-year old has been out of action since last November with a foot injury, and underwent treatment in Portugal. He is now back in Egypt and continuing his rehabilitation at al-Ahly.
Ihab said Moawad will undergo a series of physiotherapy sessions, in addition to fitness rehabilitation with special weights. Ahly play Leopards at the Borg el-Arab stadium in Alexandria on February 23.
In other injury-related news, Ahly midfielder Hossam Ashour has confirmed that he has fully recovered from the thigh injury sustained in the league match against Ghazl Al-Mehalla. Ashour came through a practice match during Wednesday's training session unscathed, having trained alone on Tuesday.
The squad doctor has also confirmed that playmaker Walid Soliman will return to the club from rehabilitation in Dubai next week, to resume treatment for a cartilage injury. Fellow midfielder Hossam Ghaly will travel to Germany in 10 days to work with medical experts on his knee. Ghaly picked up the injury during Ahly's FIFA Club World Cup campaign in Japan, last year. The 31-year old is waiting for his visa from the German embassy in Cairo.
