Albert Pujols of the Los Angeles Angels

Albert Pujols blasted his 555th career home run to tie Manny Ramirez for 14th on the all-time list as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Oakland A's 9-4 at the O.co Coliseum.

The home run came in the second inning off Athletics pitcher Sonny Gray and it put the Angels ahead 6-3.

Next up on the all-time home run list is Reggie Jackson who retired with 563.

It was also Pujols' 35th of the season as he became one of just four players with 10 or more career 35 home run seasons in his first 15 Major League campaigns. The others are Willie Mays, Mike Schmidt and Alex Rodriguez.

Pujols reached the 35-homer mark for the first time since hitting 37 in 2011, his final season with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Pujols went two-for-five, drove in three runs and scored twice on Wednesday.

The Angels won their second straight contest and took two of three games in the series against the Athletics.
