Red Devils feeling blue after Chelsea Ghana draw
The Egyptian Ahly team failed to maintain its lead over Chelsea Ghana and fell into the trap of the 1-1 draw in the match that took place in the fourth round of the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly finished the first half with a clean goal by the Ivorian Owusu Conan in the 43rd minute, Chelsea equalized in the second half by defensive error.
Al-Ahly continues to lead its group by 10 points from three wins and a single draw. On the other hand, Ghanaian Chelsea stays in second place with five points.
The game began blaringly as the two team\'s players tried to score the first goal, but Al-Ahly\'s defense was not affected by the absence of the well- experienced player Wael Gomaa and international goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami continued to play brilliantly and saved several possible goals.
The fifth minute witnessed the first opportunity for the hometeam when goalkeeper Ekrami saved the Egyptian team from a very possible goal by the tournament\'s top scorer Emmanuel Clottey.
Ahly tried surprise Chelsea by sudden attacks that reached the box in more than one occasion but did not succeed in scoring.
In the 20th minute, al-Ahly tried to strike with fast organized attacks and had several opportunity to score, but was unsuccessful.
Ahli continued pressure on their Ghanian host in the final minutes of the first half, Mohammed Abu Trika received a cross from Sayed Moawad inside the Chelsea penalty area and turns it with his head, it hits the goalpost and the Ivorian Owusu Conan receives it and scores a goal.
With the beginning of the second half, al-Ahly continued the sudden attack tactic and the captain of the Reds Hossam Ghaly scored a goal but the referee canceled it out for being offside in the 47th minute.
The defender Mohamed Naguib missed al-Ahly’s opportunity to score a second goal in the 50th minute. After receiving a crossing ball from a corner kick which he headed but it fell a long way off the goal.
In the twenty fifth minute, the hosts succeeded in equalising after Akobo took advantage of Ahly’s defensive error and shot a ball that goalkeeper Ekrami could not handle.
The emerging player Mahmoud Hassan \"Tersageh\" shot a strong ball, moments after Chelsea’s goal but it passed over the bar of the Ghanaian goalkeeper.
Barakat missed an opportunity to score in the eighty eighth minute after Aboutrika gave him a magic ball to overcome Ghanaian Chelsea goalkeeper, but Barakat shot into the body of the keeper.
The referee ended the game after calculating five minutes of additional time with a final result of 1-1.
