Fears for   Lebanese economy Lebanese institutions are preparing to combat the effect of recent violence and political instability on the country\'s economy, amid fears of the situation worsening if appropriate steps are not taken. The committee responsible for studying the current economic situation discussed moves that the economic bodies planned to take.
The meeting was chaired by former economy minister and financial authority Adnan al-Kassar, with the head of the Beirut Chamber of Commerce Mohammad Choukeir, the chairman of the Beirut Traders Association Nicolas Chammas, the president of the Lebanese Franchise Association Charles Arbid, and the secretary-general of the Banking Association Makram Sader.
The participants discussed a range of ideas and proposals. Some practical steps that will be announced in due course were discussed.
