Lisbon – Arab Today
Eleven cooperation agreements were inked during the 12th session of the Morocco-Portugal High Level Meeting, held on Monday in Lisbon under the theme “Over 20 years of broad and ambitious partnership”.
The signing ceremony was co-chaired by the Moroccan and Portuguese heads of governments Abdelilah Benkirane and Pedro Passos Coelho.
A cooperation agreement on domestic security was signed by minister delegate for the interior Cherki Drais and Portuguese Interior ministry Anabela Rodrigues.
A draft agreement was inked by tourism minister Lahcen Haddad and Portugal’s economy minister Antonio Pires de Lima to foster tourism cooperation, investment and tourist inflows.
Another draft agreement between the Moroccan academy for diplomatic studies and Portugal’s diplomatic institute was signed by minister delegate for foreign affairs Mbarka Bouaida and state secretary for Portuguese communities José Casario.
The fourth agreement touches on youth and sports and was signed by urbanism minister Mohand Laenser and José Casario.
Two memorandums of understanding related to transportation and sea routes were inked by equipment minister Aziz Rabbah and Antonio Pires de Lima.
Another memorandum of understanding concerning the creation of a Portuguese Investment Observatory in Morocco and a similar one for Moroccan investments in Portugal was signed by industry minister Moulay Hafid El Alamy and Antonio Pires de Lima.
A framework agreement on energy was signed by energy minister Abdelkader Amara and his Portuguese peer José Moreira Da Silva.
The 12th High Level Meeting was also marked by the signing of three other agreements: a scientific cooperation agreement, a partnership agreement between the higher institute for maritime studies and the Escola superior Nautica and a cooperation agreement between Morocco’s Ports National agency and the Portuguese administration of ports of Dourou and Leixoes.
