Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, has received Richard Bruton, Irish Minister for Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation, who is leading Enterprise Ireland's trade mission to the UAE and other Gulf countries.

During the meeting which was attended by Patrick Hennessy, Ambassador of Ireland to the UAE, the two parties discussed a variety of global youth and jobs issues.

Sheikh Nahyan emphasised that innovation plays a major role in providing jobs for the youth and establishing stability and security in their societies.

He noted that the UAE, in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's strategies prioritise education for citizens to qualify them for jobs in the public and private sectors.

Sheikh Nahyan added that thousands of jobs are available in the UAE thanks to the country's openness in the domains of investment, education and healthcare. This, he noted, also serves the interests of companies.

On his part, Minister Bruton commended the progress being made by the UAE, and Abu Dhabi in particular, in sectors such as construction, investment and trade. He noted that giant projects he attract global companies such as MIAGEN, a global forecasting, planning and analysis consultancy headquartered in Ireland.

Hennessy noted that MIAGEN has secured an ongoing contract to consult and implement a Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) system for the National Real Estate Company (NREC), one of the largest real estate companies and developers in the GCC.

NREC is also the prime developer of Abu Dhabi's Dh3.6 billion Reem Mall project in Abu Dhabi.

The Irish minister expressed hope that the UAE will continue to make progress in infrastructure construction, a field he described as the foundation for economic development and welfare of peoples of the world.
