Iranian Film Week opened on Sunday in the National Theatre Hall, in the presence of number of artists and culture figures. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Fawzi Al Atroushi delivered the opening speech welcoming the new Iranian ambassador, Irj Musjedi and the Iranian artists.
Al Atroushi said that this week is implementing the culture cooperation agreement between Iraq and Iran that was signed in 2015, and it is also an opportunity to benefit from the Iranian cinematic experience. He added that the two countries have many relations where culture is essential and cinema plays indispensable cultural, philosophical, social, and educational role.
He praised the culture ministry role in funding a number of Iraqi films within the project of “Baghdad, capital of Arab culture 2013” and the cinematic improvement in Kurdistan region, which became an admiration for all artists.
The Iranian ambassador, Irj Musjedi expressed his happiness of this Film Week, asking for more culture cooperation between the two countries and highlighting the importance of cinema in promoting noble values and thoughts.
Iranian actor “Farhad Qaimian” was awarded by director Gamal Abdl Gasem and head of Iraqi Radio and Television Union, Hamid Al Hosini. The Iranian Film week opened on May 2 and during the upcoming days many films will be screened such as, Badia Falcon, The Outsiders, The Oriental Star, and Christmas.
