Fairy tale dresses

Fairy tale dresses Paris’s prestigious Haute Couture Fashion Week took place from 23 January through to 26 January. This season Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stephane Rolland, Chanel, Dior

, Valentino and Georgio Armani stole the headlines for their extravagant pieces.

Elie Saab
Elie Saab collection was the most elegant of all. The Lebanese designer produced a fairy tale blockbuster, drawing in Hollywood stars sizing up dresses for Oscar season.

Zuhair Murad
Zuhair Murad couture line was among the major attractions at the Fashion Week 2012. The colour palette was mostly gold and nude, with black, pink, white and glacier blue also in the mix. We will see many stars wearing from this collection, especially Jennifer Lopez who always looks stunning in Zuhair Murad Couture.

Jean Paul Gaultier
High end fashion shows don’t always have one central theme, but for Jean Paul Gaultier it is clear Amy Winehouse was the sole inspiration for his latest haute couture presentation. Models were dressed in Amy’s signature ‘50s style including baseball jackets, shirts tucked into pencil skirts and corset tops. We loved the whole collection.

Stephane Rolland
Stephane Rolland collection was a major hit, but he wowed with a finale outfit modeled by Yasmin Le Bon. His red mermaid style dress weighed 50 kilos. The fabric measured 4.5 metres at its longest point and flowed gracefully around the model's womanly figure.

Chanel
Karl Lagerfeld took couture to new heights with an airline-themed show Attendees were ushered into the show through a tunnel into a space designed like the inside of a luxury jet. The collection was elegant and Chanel fans will fall in love with it.

The Armani Prive
The Armani Prive collection was elegant and unique, taking a cue from reptiles and amphibians.
Italian designer Giorgio Armani was inspired by German author Franz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis" about a man who is transformed into an insect-like creature. Armani used this allegory to design a collection for a woman "who is at first calm and easy and then is drawn out of her own skin" with reptile texture, green bug hues and snake prints.

Valentiono
Life is a dream for Valentino’s spring summer 2012 collection. Models in sparkling lace choker collars and long smocked taffeta dresses appeared like angles, floating through the show. White was the main color in the collection which is suitable for the spring season.

Dior
Christian Dior Haute Couture show, gave a nod to fashion of decades past with a 1950s inspired collection. It was designer Bill Gaytten’s second Couture collection for the House while they search for a replacement for John Galliano. This year Gaytten kept the collection much more demure and sophisticated in true Dior style. Each of the looks presented were of breathtaking, many with the signature Dior fitted waist detailing made famous by the New Look, and whimsical ballroom-style skirts. Coupled with beaded detailing, sheer skirts, voluminous layering and girlish bows, each gown was more magical than the last.
