Dubai Fashion Week at Dubai World Trade Centre A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai, and the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA), to initiate Dubai Fashion 2020 for establishing Dubai as a fashion hub.
The strategic plan, Dubai Fashion 2020, aims to promote the current growth in UAE’s GDP, which is majorly supported by the fashion industry of Dubai, reported the Emirates News Agency.
The Dubai Fashion 2020 will increase the scope for employment in the apparel value chain, including manufacturing, retail and design, of the country.
It seeks to build a productive working environment for fashion-related businesses, and promote the country’s culture in other parts of the world.
The MoU is a step towards developing economic opportunities in the fashion and apparel industry of Dubai and boost its competitiveness on the global platform, said Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai.
Dubai Fashion 2020 will focus on the role of contemporary regional fashion, Islamic fashion and marketing opportunities for regional and global investors in Dubai.
It will offer training programmes, and host various fashion events, to attract fashion entrepreneurs to Dubai, from across the globe.
The plan is associated with the recently announced Dubai Design District project and the UAE’s Tourism Vision 2020. Both projects aim at attracting a larger number of visitors, with a high spending capital and a longer duration of stay, to the UAE.
