The actress has had quite a few notable style mishaps at the Oscars
Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed her style hit-and-misses when it comes to the dresses she’s worn to the Oscars. The actress recalled two \"glaring\" fashion faux pas in particular
when looking back at her own red carpet history.
The first was a diaphanous silvery Calvin Klein dress that she wore to the Academy Awards back in 2000.
\"It\'s an okay dress, but not Oscars material. I chose it because I wanted to disappear that year,\" she said.
The second was the infamous gothic black Alexander McQueen design with a sheer bodice, worn in 2002, which has been the subject of ridicule among fashion critics for years.
\"There were a few issues,\" she said. \"I still love the dress itself, but I should have worn a bra and I should have just had simple beachy hair and less makeup. Then, it would have worked as I wanted it to - a little bit of punk at the Oscars.\"
According to Vogue, Paltrow credits stylist Elizabeth Saltzman with her recent red carpet successes
\"I think they are all pretty maje - I can say this because I have just about nothing to do with it,” she said.
Her two notable favourites include the pale pink Prada dress worn to the 2011 Venice Film Festival and the white caped Tom Ford dress from last year\'s Oscars.
The actress also revealed that her style is heavily influenced by her A-list friends.
\"I am most inspired by women friends who are incredibly stylish in their own way. Stella McCartney always looks amazing - she has a way of making you covet her sweatpants and T-shirt, she just wears clothes so well,\" Paltrow wrote on her blog, Goop.
\"I love Rashida Jones\' hot nerd vibe and Beyoncé\'s playfulness in trying different trends. I love Cameron Diaz\'s ability to rock silver nails and layer tons of tiny gold jewellery. I am also very inspired by street style in London where I have lived pretty much for 10 years,\" she added.
