Luxurious collection Victoria Beckham presented her Spring Summer 2013 collection during New York Fashion Week. The latest collection was far from her sophisticated knee-length, structured sheaths
— instead she surprised all with a completely versatile collection for Spring Summer 2013. The new compilation consisted of long, loose silhouettes alongside short, tight ones. The sleek minimal colour palette of black, white and orange added a laid-back, nonchalant look, and the designer shocked with her choice in flat sandals rather than her usual choice of heels.
“Quality and luxury have always been the essence of ready-to-wear and these remain the cornerstone of the collection, while new notions of versatility, modernity and ease have been introduced. Signature silhouettes and details have been referenced and progressed in new forms with contrast and texture. These have allowed me to continue to investigate embracing the female form and further explore the notion of how a woman can emotionally connect with her clothes and how they make her feel,” Victoria Beckham wrote in the show notes.
Backstage after the show, Beckham said that she had focused on separates rather than dresses because \"there\'s a lot more to think about, and I wanted to challenge myself. Tailoring is so difficult, and I am incredibly particular about shoulders, so it has taken me a long time to come up with a perfect jacket.\"
Victoria looked tearful as she took her catwalk bow. \"I can\'t believe I cried,\" she said afterwards. \"I\'m not really one who cries, but this matters so much. It matters more than it probably should.\"
