Image: Prostate Problems Some men are disturbed by the enlargement of prostate glanda. Their fears increase when they hear about prostate cancer, which is the second  deadliest cancer for men. On the other hand, others continue their lives regardless of this masculine gland, and do not care unless things become worse.
This is why one must protect themselves from prostate disease, without having any excessive fear.
The Head of the Moroccan Urology Association, Professor Abdul Nabi Jawal told Arabstoday that the prostate gland is located in the genital tract in men and directly below the urinary bladder. Inside the prostate, the path of urine and semen meet to form one path into the outer urethra. Any enlargement, swelling or tumour in the prostate is reflected negatively on the efficiency of men’s sexual function.
The prostate is an important organ in the man\'s body because it works on organising the reproductive process in a natural and effective way.
Jawal added that the growth of prostate is slow and gradual from the age of 20 to 40, and almost after the age of 45 the prostate starts to grow rapidly.  Most men face the symptoms of an enlarged prostate by the age of 50.
The functions of the prostate gland:
The professor confirmed that the basic function of the prostate gland is related to the reproduction. The gland is responsible for producing secretions that are important interventions in forming seminal fluid. It helps to feed the gamete sperm, supply it with energy to activate the movement in order to reach the ovary in the woman\'s uterus, and decrease the acidity of the vagina, which kills the sperms. It secretes antimicrobial agents, which is used to prevent bacterial infections.
 The symptoms of prostate disease:
Jawal said that prostate disease starts at the age of 50, due to enlargement of the prostate gland, or increase in its size due to cell proliferation. This in turn results in bedwetting or closure of the urethra bladder.  Jawal added that the major symptoms are the frequent waking up during the night in order to urinate, and pain in the lower abdomen and above the gentile area. This is in addition to Dysuria, which is accompanied by a severe burning sensation, and an inability to urinate. If the patient was late for treatment, the patient can become completely unable to urinate. The patient will not be able to urinate and empty the urinary bladder without a medical tube. In this difficult case, the patient requires  surgery.
Types of disease, prevention and treatment:
According to Jawal, the diseases that infect the prostate gland are numerous. The infections can be either acute or chronic, or congested in the gland. He also warned from some prostate diseases that cause cancer in many cases, which is considered the first type of cancer that infects men over 50 years old.
Professor Jawal said that every man descended from a family that suffers from prostate disease, should visit the doctor for early detection. He added that Morocco does not have a national record for the number of injuries and deaths due to prostate cancer.
Regarding diagnosis, Jawal said that the clinical examination of the prostate gland is essential in order to be able to discover any defect in the gland. In addition, there is a special examination called PSA that reveals the increase in a certain protein, which is produced by the prostate in the blood, and radiography and then a sample is taken to the laboratory.
The professor concluded that young men can avoid infection through avoiding sexually transmitted diseases, ensuring safe sexual relations, and avoiding sexual stimulants. He confirmed the importance of early diagnosis.
