Syria exempts Iranian exports from health checks following growing relations Damascus – George Al Shami The Syrian government said it will exempt goods from Iran from stringent health checks, which it normally carries out on all foreign exports .
Syrian Prime Minister, Wael Al-Halaki, said thirteen items including sugar, rice, vegetable oil, vegetable and livestock ghee, tea, yeast, tuna, sardine, chicken, ?lentils, beans, jams and flour had all been exempted.
These items fall under the country\'s livestock protection law, article 301/T of the 2006 constitution,
Iran and Syria, which are predominantly Shiite, have shared a special relationship, which has developed further since the escalation of the Syrian civil with opposition Sunni fighters seeking to topple the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
