The Shard

In addition to Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, London’s The Shard is hoping to become a must-stop visit for tourists and has launched a few interesting summer events to lure locals and foreigners alike.
At 87 storeys -- currently the tallest building in the European Union -- The Shard will capitalize on its sweeping views by hosting everything from sky-high yoga classes, silent discos and a picnic in the clouds.
Though fans may no longer be able to cheer for Andy Murray, tennis lovers can still catch the dramatic Wimbledon showdown at The Shard, where matches will be screened live at the highest champagne bar in London through July 6.
Guests will sip on Lanson champagne and cool down with strawberries and cream-flavored Haagen-Dazs ice cream.
After a wildly successful first run, Silent Discos will return in partnership with Time Out. To kick off the summer season, July 5 will host a ‘Best of America'-themed party, as a post-Independence Day event.
Other events include a ‘Best of British Bands’ event July 26, created to pay tribute to Mick Jagger on his birthday, and another on September 6 featuring ‘Best of British female artists,’ with a special homage to Kate Bush.
On Saturday mornings between July 5 and October 25, The Shard will also host early-morning yoga classes that offer sweeping views of the city. On warmer days, classes will also take place in the open air.
And on August 10, visitors will be given a chance to picnic on the 72nd floor of the building, where a makeshift park will be created with turf grass. Supplying the gourmet picnic? Gourmet British brand Fortnum & Mason.
