Tourists visit Luxor Temple on the east bank of Nile River in Luxor Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, has announced that to honour President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, one of the major squares in Luxor, Egypt, has been named after His Highness .
This move reflects the high regard of the Egyptian people for the United Arab Emirates, His Highness the Head of State and the role played by the U.A.E. in achieving stability and development in Egypt.
Major-General Tariq Saad Eddin, the Governor of Luxor Province, said that one of the largest squares in Luxor has now been named after Sheikh Khalifa due to large popular demand, in recognition of the historical stance of the UAE in support of Egypt.
In an interview for Al Khaleej Arabic newspaper, conducted by Jamal Dwairi, Dr. Al Jaber said that the UAE, in cooperation with Egypt, is working on the launch of a future plan to revive the Egyptian economy and put it on a sustainable growth path.
A study has been conducted as well to develop systems, legislations and laws to boost the economy's ability to attract investments into the sectors that contribute to growth promotion, and job creation and increase GDP.
He also stressed that the Egyptian citizenry is receiving due attention by focusing on job creation and addressing the challenges of providing energy, food and housing security to reap benefits quickly.
Dr. Al Jaber highlighted the accomplishment of new rates of completion for projects provided by the UAE in Egypt, including the production of serum insulin, 50,000 housing units, the construction of 100 schools, and the development of infrastructure for sanitation in 151 villages besides the construction of 78 health clinics in 23 provinces as well as a project to build four bridges and the development of protective fencing for 41 railway lines.
He stated that the majority of Egyptian governorates will benefit from the UAE projects and more than 8 million Egyptian citizens will gain from them directly, pointing out that the UAE team working on these projects consists of a number of qualified cadres who possess excellent practical experience in project management as well as the team that resides permanently in Cairo.
