Morsi discussed with Sudani FM ways to develop the relations between both countries Khartoum – Abedalgoum Ashmeag The governor of Sudan\'s Northern state, Fathi Khalil, and Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Kandil will visit Sudan on September 22 to inaugurate a land route that connects Sudan and Aswan, which will ease transport between the two countries.
Khalil concluded visit to Egypt on Tuesday. He said: \"Kandil will sign the protocol that allows trucks, cars and buses to pass between the two countries.\"
In an exclusive interview with Arabstoday, Khalil said the move signified a \"shift in relations between the two countries that occur for the first time and emphasising the importance of relations between the two countries, especially since there are other routes will be completed soon to allow other communication opportunities. \"
\"We used to talk in the past about those relationships and describe them as deep and everlasting without practically translating it.\" He added that \"the upcoming period will witness great activity in different areas: economic, commercial and tourism to achieve the desired goals of those relationships.\"
The governor of the Northern state said his visit to Cairo with the delegation that accompanied the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Karti included a detailed explanation of the opportunities of investment in Sudan in general, and the Northern state in particular.
\"The Egyptian side has shown a clear readiness to carry investment operations for the benefit of the two countries,” he said.
He added that Egyptian businessmen have attended the meeting during which they agreed on the basics of investment in the fields of agriculture, livestock and tourism, as well as mining.
He is expected to visit a number of states soon to estimate the situation. He announced that the state would grant any investor 100,000 acres, and will receive additional land if he uses his property well.
Regarding the manual search for gold and illegal immigration between the two countries, Khalil said: \"Egyptian President Morsi ordered the release
of 100 detainees and their confiscated vehicles during the visit of the Sudanese Foreign Minister.”
He said: “Monitoring borders between the two countries is the responsibility of the federal government.\"
He added: \"State authorities gave them permission to enter the borders of the state. However, some of them go beyond the border so they become intruders and are prosecuted in Egypt.\"
