Brazilian meat has been banned in Lebanon over mad cow disease fears
Lebanon’s Minister of Agriculture has decided to ban importing meat from the Brazilian state of Parana.
Sources said Minister Hussien el-Haj Hassan issued the decision after
a spread of mad cow disease was reported in Parana.
Head of Lebanon’s Meat Traders Joseph el-Habar said that Brazilian authorities asserted that the problem had not extended to other Brazilian states. He stressed that the decision would not affect prices of meat in Lebanon.
