Ajman - Arab Today
More than 200 nationalities are living and working along with the Emirati people in the UAE, in harmony and peaceful co-existence, H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, affirmed today during a meeting with Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance.
''They are all equal before the law under the tolerant Islamic teachings,'' he said while discussing the National Tolerance Programme and gaining insights from Sheikha Lubna.
''Islam preaches peace, co-existence and tolerance among all members of the community and the UAE Constitution promotes these values, and connects us with others on the principles of mutual respect, understanding and co-operation and rejection of hatred," the Ajman Ruler added.
Sheikha Lubna informed H.H. Sheikh Humaid about the programme's five main themes: Strengthen the government’s role as an incubator of tolerance; consolidate the role of family in nation building; promote tolerance among young people and prevent them from fanaticism and extremism; enrich scientific and cultural content, and integrate international efforts to promote tolerance and highlight the leading role of the UAE in this area.
Sheikha Lubna also spoke about the programme’s key initiatives, including the Voice of Tolerance, Tolerance Thinkers Council, Corporate Tolerance Responsibility, and the Tolerance, Co-existence and Peace Charter.
The National Tolerance Programme is part of the UAE’s efforts to deliver the UAE National Agenda, leading to the UAE Vision 2021.
