Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit on Sunday received the credentials of new Moroccan permanent representative to the pan-Arab body Ahmed el Tazi.
Abul Gheit also received the credentials of Iraq's permanent representative Habib al Sadr.
The Iraqi diplomat affirmed his country's keenness on being an active and influential member of the Arab League and to have a pivotal role in dealing with major regional challenges faced by the AL.
He added that more understanding, openness, cooperation and exchange of views and ideas are needed to cope with such challenges.
Sadr said his government counts on Abul Gheit's wise to lead the pan-Arab body in these difficult circumstances, as he realizes there is no future for the Arab nation without boosting joint cooperating.
He hailed Baghdad's relations with Cairo as the two capitals represent major pillars in the Arab world.
He added that his country is keen on pushing forward these relations at all levels and in all fields.
