Actor Sid Ali Kouiret, a great figure of the Algerian theatre and cinema, died on Sunday afternoon at the hospital of Algiers at the age of 82, after a long disease, said the deceased’s family.
The deceased was admitted to the Hospital of Ain Naadja a month ago, where he underwent several surgical operations.
Born on 3 January 1933 in Algiers, Sid Ali Kouiret marked the history of the Algerian cinema since the independence by performing in several great works, including "L'opium et le bâton" (Opium and the Stick), "Chronique des années de braise" (Chronicles of the Years of Fire) and “Décembre” (December).
