The World Junior Men-Women’s Epee Championships (U20 Men-Women’s Épée) opened today in Bahrain.
His Majesty’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa gave the for go-ahead for the tournament, being organized by Bahrain Fencing Association for the second year in a row.
Twenty-six countries are taking part in the two-day championship, being held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser. SCYS Assistant Secretary-General, BOC Secretary-General Abdulrahman Sadiq, Bahrain Fencing Association Chairman Shaikh Ibrahim bin Salman Al-Khalifa, BOC board member, Bahrain Table Tennis Association Chairperson Shaikha Hayat bint Abdul-Aziz Al-Khalifa and other officials honoured the top three winners.
HH Shaikh Nasser paid tribute to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for supporting the hosting of sport championships in Bahrain.
“The hosting of the World Junior Men-Women’s Epee Championships (U20 Men-Women’s Épée) reflects Bahrain standing and ability to organize such championships”, said HH Shaikh Nasser.
He commended the dedicated efforts of the Bahrain Fencing Association, hailing the establishment of the Bahrain-Italian Fencing Academy.
