Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Thursday the Arab League (AL) headquarters where he was welcomed by the AL Secretary General Nabil el Araby and Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.

The Chinese president held discussions with el Araby and delivered a speech in front of the AL permanent representatives on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and the AL.

El Araby lauded this historic visit and the document issued by the Chinese side entitled "China’s Arab Policy Paper".

The AL chief said that the document includes number of important issues such as the keenness of China to establish development with the Arab countries and support an Independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.

The Chinese president stressed the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative kicked off in 2014 to promote economic cooperation between his country and the Arab nations.

The document tackles also the support of China to the Arab countries in combating terrorism and establishing a zone free from the nuclear and mass destruction weapons in the Middle East.

It takes up means of enhancing joint cooperation in the domains of science, education , culture, health, cinema and television.
