Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid hailed the White House's criticism of the western media's neglect of terrorist attacks around the world.

In a statement issued Monday evening, the White House that a list of 78 terrorist attacks around the world, including nine in Egypt, have not received the media attention they deserved.

In a press release Tuesday, Abu Zeid said that US such stance goes with the repeated calls launched by Egypt on the necessity of adopting a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism.

A number of Western media outlets have not been reporting adequately on recent terrorist attacks, Abu Zeid said, adding that some of them accuse certain countries of dereliction, including Egypt.

He further said that when Egypt is subjected to terrorist attacks which claim the lives of several people, a number of Western media outlets shed light on the dereliction by the Egyptian authorities.

Egypt hopes that the upcoming phase will see a change from the international community in dealing with the terrorism phenomenon, he added.
