Foreign Minister heads for Beirut

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry left Cairo late Monday heading for Beirut on a three-day visit to Lebanon to probe ways to enhance bilateral relations in the various domains.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the visit aims to assert Egypt’s support for the Lebanese state and institutions and enhance bilateral relations.

The foreign minister is planned to meet with a number of senior Lebanese political leaders, topped by the prime minister, the foreign minister, the parliament speaker and leaders of a number of political parties, the spokesman added.

Abu Zeid reiterated Egypt’s stance in support of the Lebanese people and government with the aim of helping them complete their political process topped by the election of a new president.
