Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton fills out her ballot in the New York

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton arrived at her polling place in New York on Tuesday and cast her ballot. 

Polls have opened to voters in the eastern coast states as Americans will choose either Republican Donald Trump or Democratic Hillary Clinton to be the 45th President of the United States.

There are 538 electoral votes up for grabs and to become President, the candidates need to win 270 – which is half plus one.
