His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today attended the opening of Bahrain’s newest shopping landmark, The Avenues mall in Manama.
The Crown Prince highlighted that the opening underscores Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its key economic sectors and bolstering regional competiveness.
HRH also emphasised that developing Bahrain’s core economic sectors is a central pillar of the Kingdom’s sustainable development programme, led by HM King Hamad.
The Crown Prince spoke of the positive impact the retail sector has on economic growth, and stressed that Bahrain recognises the important role the sector plays in private sector job creation. HRH added that the retail sector provides 25% of Bahraini private sector employment.
The Crown Prince praised the unique architectural design of the new shopping and leisure complex, stressing that Bahrain will continue to improve its regulatory framework to encourage investment in world-class entertainment and lifestyle projects.
HRH went on to say that Bahrain’s strategic location and long-established regulatory framework has repeatedly attracted large-scale projects for the benefit of all, and will continue to do so into the future. He added that work must continue at the same pace to cement the Kingdom’s international and regional standing.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, and other senior officials accompanied the Crown Prince during the opening ceremony.

• Extends for 1.5km alongside the King Faisal Corniche, with 50% of its retail space dedicated to restaurants and cafes
• Creates over 4,000 job opportunities
• Large family entertainment area, 12-cinema theatre, outdoor jogging track, children’s play areas, external gym equipment and parking spaces for 1,500 vehicles
• Leasing space of around 40,000 square metres
• Over 130 new retail outlets
