Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr will lead Egypt's delegation to the annual meetings of the World Bank in Washington, set for October 7-9.

During her stay in Washington, the minister will meet with a number of officials at the World Bank and International Finance Foundation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.

She will also represent Egypt in the Meeting of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development (G-24) as well as the World Bank Arab governors' meeting.

In statements on Monday, Nasr said her meetings with the WB officials will focus on the cooperation portfolio for the projects to be funded by dlrs 8 billion, including dlrs 6 billion granted by The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) along with dlrs 2 billion investments provided by IFC to the private sector.

The minister will also confer with heads of funding foundations which have established cooperation relations with the Egyptian government, including the African Bank for Development (AFDB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EURD), the Islamic Bank for Development (IBD), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the American Agency for International Development (USAID).

Nasr's talks will focus on unveiling the needs of Egyptian citizens especially in the most needy areas as well as the Egyptian government's priorities in the coming phase. She will also present the Egyptian government program to achieve a promising development plan and realize social justice and the achievements made over the past few months.

The annual and meetings of the World Bank Group each year bring together ministers of international cooperation, finance, and economy to discuss spheres of sustainable development, means to reduce poverty rates as well as providing job opportunities in the developing countries and the role of development partners in supporting such countries.
