Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif plans to pay an official visit to Spain to discuss the latest developments on the international arena, and explore new avenues for expansion of Tehran-Madrid Ties. The top Iranian diplomat's has not fixed a date yet, but he likely would visit Spain after the new round of talks with the Group5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) which is scheduled to start work on May 13 in Vienna. Iran and Spain have enjoyed amicable ties for centuries based on mutual understanding. The volume of the trade exchanges between the two countries amounted to 4 billion Euros in 2011, while the figure stood at 3.5 billion Euros in 2009.
