Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Former Italian racer in Formula 1 Ivan Capelli has received the Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Safety in marine races for his invention of a bracelet which records its users medical information, and facilitates quick access to medical record in the case of a medical emergency.
The Etoile Palace Hall in Monaco recently hosted the distribution of 50 international awards to honour the heroes of the 2014 season and strategic partners during the annual ceremony of the Union International Motonautique (UIM), which was attended by 400 sports stars in the field of marine sports from more than 40 countries.
The second edition of the global award, which aims to encourage best practices in the field of innovation and methods of security and safety in the marine races was presented to Mr Capelli by Saif bin Markhan Al Ketbi, President of the Dubai-based World Professional Powerboating Association, in the presence of Albert II Prince of Monaco, and UIM President Dr. Rafaelle Chiulli.
Speaking on the occasion, Al Ketbi said, "The award is a great initiative to recognise innovative ideas and contributions."
Last year, the Italian marine rescue team, Bargamo, won the award.
