His Majesty King Abdullah II

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday returned home following a working visit to Brussels, during which he held talks with senior EU officials on ways to bolster ties between Jordan and the union as well as the latest developments at the regional and international arenas.

While in Brussels, King Abdullah met with President of the European Council Donald Tusk, President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, President of European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The Royal visit to Brussels was fruitful and resulted in increasing the volume of EU assistance to Jordan to help it deal with the repercussions of the Syrian refugee crisis. It also resulted in reaching an agreement to implement the new rules of origin between Jordan and the EU for ten years as of July. Further, it resulted in launching talks pertaining to the Jordanian-EU partnership program for the coming four years. A fourth result was increasing the military support to Jordan by the NATO.
