Ali Laijani was re-elected as the speaker of the new Iranian parliament on Tuesday.
With 237 votes in his favor, he will serve in the capacity during the first year of the legislative body's four-year term, according to Iran's (IRNA) News Agency. 11 of the parliamentarian present in the session voted for Tehran constituency representative Mostafa Kavakebian.
Larijani chaired the Iranian parliament in the past two terms as well. New round of Iranian parliament started work on Saturday. In Sunday's session, Larijani was elected as the interim Speaker of Majlis with 173 votes in favor.
