Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs issued on Wednesday resolution No. 27 of 2011 setting up a committee implementing the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the children of female citizens married to foreigners. The resolution stipulates the formation of a committee to follow up the President’s directives in this regard. The committee will be chaired by Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs and will have its members as representatives of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the Higher National Security Council, the State Security Authority and the Ministry of Interior. The resolution authorised the chairman of the committee to appoint whomever he deemed appropriate to assist the work of the committee. It also stipulated that the committee shall be responsible for preparing the list of the children of female citizens, and develop standards and criteria on ways to obtain UAE citizenship for them and to submit the relevant recommendations to the head of state. The chairman of the committee shall carry out the resolution from the date of its issuance. Meanwhile, Sheikh Mansour also issued resolution No. 28 of 2011 setting up a higher committee to implement the directives of Sheikh Khalifa on the establishment of a fund to address the loans of citizens with limited income. The resolution stipulates the formation of a higher committee to follow-up the President’s directives in this regard. The committee will be chaired by the representative of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and will have as its members as representatives of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, Abu Dhabi Department of Finance, UAE’s Central Bank and the Judicial Department in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The resolution authorised the chairman of the committee to appoint whomever he deemed appropriate to assist the work of the committee. The resolution shall be applied to cases that preceded its issuance on the second of December 2011 and the committee will develop standards governing its implementation. Maritime strategy The Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai reviewed at a meeting on Wednesday the Strategic Plan of the maritime sector for the next five years. The Maritime Strategic Plan 2012-2017 aims to transform Dubai to a global marine centre by introducing a number of approaches and programmes that seek to regulate, develop and strengthen the sector. The meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Ruler of Dubai and first deputy chairman of the Executive Council Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid, also discussed a number of other topics and took appropriate decisions.
