Amity University in Dubai has awarded Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, with an honorary doctorate in appreciation of his continuing innovative efforts to achieve excellence and enhance scientific knowledge and sustainability. The doctorate was awarded at a graduation ceremony held in the University’s campus in Dubai International Academic City.
Mr. Al Tayer received the honorary doctorate from Ashok Chauhan, Founder and President of the Amity Group, in the attendance of Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University, the Academic Staff of the university and the graduating batch of students.
"I would like to thank Amity University for giving me this honorary doctorate. It’s my pleasure to address all staff and students, to help further drive awareness about the significance of a knowledge economy in the UAE and Dubai in particular. DEWA is committed to the vision of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, outlined in the Dubai Plan 2021 for Dubai to be a city of happy, creative and empowered people, with educated, cultured and healthy individuals who help keep the Emirate’s resources highly sustainable," said Al Tayer.
The event was attended by Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director-General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, KHDA, and Dr. Raga Essa Al Gurg, Chairperson of the Al Jalila Foundation, Vice Chairperson and Executive Director of Dubai Healthcare City.
