US Senator Richard Burr (L)

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received the visiting US Congress delegation led by Richard Burr, US Senator, at Al Shati Palace.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Burr and briefed him on the UAE's cultural achievements in various cultural, social and economic fields as well as UAE's vision towards various regional and international issues.

Sheikh Mohamed and the US Congress delegation discussed cooperation relations between the UAE and the US and the importance of enhancing them for the benefit of the mutual interests of the two friendly peoples and countries.

H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor attended the meeting.

Sheikh Mohamed and the US delegation members exchanged views on some of the most important issues and the latest regional and international developments. They also tackled the most important initiatives aimed to find solutions for a number of dossiers, especially fighting terrorism and the repercussions that resulted from the terrorist attacks that hit a number of places lately, as well as their impact on stability and peace in the world.

The two sides emphasised the importance of intensifying efforts and cooperation between the countries of the world in order to fight terrorist organisations that represented a real threat to global peace and security.

The meeting also tackled the latest developments in the region, particularly the Syrian crises and the Yemeni dossier, as well as the role being played by the Arab Coalition in the Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen.

The delegation praised the distinguished relations between the UAE and the US and coordination and cooperation between them in various domains, particularly in fighting terrorism and extremism and the role being played by the UAE in supporting stability and peace in the region and the world.

Deputy Secretary General of the National Security Council, Ali bin Hamad Al Shamsi, and Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Crown Prince's Court, also attended the meeting.
