DUBAI - Arab Today
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday visited the Design Days Dubai (DDD) and Gulf Education Supplies and Solutions (GESS) exhibitions.
During his tour of DDD, held at Dubai Design District to coincide with Art Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad visited a number of stands and was briefed by local and global artists about their innovative and rare works of art. Shaikh Mohammad also viewed artworks from 39 countries that were on display in more than 50 galleries.
Around 50 per cent of DDD’s participants are from the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Shaikh Mohammad expressed his happiness at visiting DDD, describing the event as a forum for cultures around the world that features the humanitarian side of talented artists through their innovative works that reflect their heritage and identity of their respective countries.
Shaikh Mohammad said that all types of art — whether it is poetry, drawing, architecture, sculpting or photography — provide valuable aesthetic, humanitarian and national works that deserve recognition, while the artists deserve admiration. He said artists should be encouraged to develop their creativity even further, considering that art is the unsung hero of culture
On his visit to GESS, Shaikh Mohammad inspected the stands of more than 500 companies and government bodies from 30 countries that showcased modern education solutions and supplies.
During his tour, Shaikh Mohammad was briefed on an advanced device for science and computing studies that aims to develop education methods and find scientific and technological solutions for the education sector, which plays a vital role in developing youth and emerging generations.
Shaikh Mohammad praised the idea behind organising GESS and the accompanying debate forum, which is an opportunity for those working in the education sector and students to learn about the latest global innovations that would help develop their skills.
In talks held with Emirati and Gulf ministers at the show, Shaikh Mohammad said education is a blessing from God, and pointed out that education is the right of every person on this planet. The UAE is keen on providing all forms of modern education methods to school and university students, as well as preparing and qualifying them according to global education standards so they can contribute to the march of sustainable development, he added
