Italian Premier Mario Monti is taking a break from his efforts to save the euro and spending some time in the Swiss Alps. The technocrat economist is vacationing in the town of Silvaplana, between the Maloja Pass and St. Moritz, not far from the Engadine lakes. He is a frequent guest of the town. \"We\'ve known him since before he became premier,\" said a 70-year old local resident. \"I used to bump into him at the local newspaper stand, but now they\'ve closed the kiosk\". Monti is passing the mid-August break with his family, just as he does the Christmas holidays.
