Khartoum - Arab Today
Egypt's nominee for the post of the director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ambassador Moshira Khattab, arrived here Saturday on a two-day visit to Sudan.
Khattab's visit comes as part of a tour in a number of Arab and African countries in order to promote her nomination in the elections that will be held in 2017.
The Egyptian figure was received here by Egypt's Ambassador in Khartoum Osama Shaltout, a representative of Sudanese government in addition to the Egyptian Embassy staffers.
Khattab is scheduled to meet with some Sudanese high-level officials, journalists and media men in order to respond to all inquiries about her nomination, future vision and platform if elected.
Egypt has formally decided to name Khattab for UNESCO's top post in succession of UNESCO's Director General Irina Bokova.
Khattab has assumed several positions in the foreign ministry before she was chosen to be minister of housing and population in 2011.
