North Kordufan State Governor, Ahmed Haroon, on Friday received the first sample of weapons from voluntary recruits, locally known as mujahedeen, and honored a number of those who were involved in the process.
The Governor meanwhile received a document of allegiance in which the Mujahedeen, former combatants against rebels, pledged to handover all weapons and to continue with their volunteering actions in other domains including that of provision of services and working in civil society organizations.
The government of north Kordufan launched a campaign under the motto of "safe state, socially and scoring highest degree of tranquility and peace"
The governor said the handing over of the weapons was crowning of the work of volunteerism in which the mujahedeen were engaged.
