Pope Francis will pay an official visit to the European Parliament during its next session in the French city of Strasbourg on Tuesday 25 November, the EP announced here Friday.
The head of the Vatican state and the Roman Catholic Church will be welcomed by Parliament President Martin Schulz and deliver a formal address to the EP on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, the EP will debate the question of the recognition of Palestine statehood with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini next Wednesday afternoon.
A motion of censure tabled by 76 MEPs against the new President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker will be debated on Monday in the presence of Juncker and all EU commissioners, and put to a vote on Thursday.
The motion follows recent leaks that Luxembourg made secret deals with hundreds of multinational companies to evade paying taxes. Juncker was the former Prime Minister of Luxembourg for 18 years.
