The wealth of Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko grew 10% in the past year, making him one of the country’s six richest people, according to a list compiled by the Novoye Vremya magazine and published on its website.
Poroshenko was given the sixth position in the list of Ukraine’s 100 richest people, with "wealth estimated at $1.1 billion, and the Roshen corporation being his key asset."
Rinat Akhmetov, the owner of the SCM Group, emerged again as Ukraine’s richest person. His wealth is estimated at $12.2 billion, and it grew 76% in the past year. Viktor Pinchuk, who heads the Interpipe metallurgical company, is the runner-up with $2.7 billion (up 87% in the reported period). Vadim Novinsky, a lawmaker and the owner of Smart Holding (assets in metals and mining, shipbuilding, agriculture, real estate and other areas), comes third with $2.3 billion (up 94%).
The fourth and fifth places are held by Privat Group co-owners Gennady Bogolyubov and Igor Kolomoisky, who have accumulated the wealth of $1.6 billion each.
The aggregate wealth of all the 100 people on the list stands at $37.5 billion, up 43% since 2017.
According to experts who compiled the list, the wealth of Ukraine’s 100 richest people grows 12 times faster than the country’s GDP, and will continue to increase further.
