Today marks the birthday of HRH Prince Hashem, who was born on June 10, 1981 (8th of Shaban, 1401 Hijri) to His Majesty the late King Hussein and Her Majesty Queen Noor. The 41st direct descendant of Prophet Mohammad and the youngest brother of His Majesty King Abdullah, Prince Hashem completed his primary education in Amman and later enrolled in the Maret School in the US. He then attended Sandhurst Military Academy in the UK, from which he graduated in 2000 (1421 Hijri) and received several medals, including an award for the best aggregate mark in his academic studies for non-British officers. The Prince graduated with distinction from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service on August 12, 2005 (7th of Rajab, 1426 Hijri), then completed his higher education in Koran studies at Balqa Applied University in Jordan and graduated on September 5, 2006 (11th of Shaban, 1427 Hijri). Prince Hashem, who currently serves as an officer in the Jordan Armed Forces with the rank of major, is the recipient of several medals from Jordan and other countries. He took part in a course on basic training for platoon leaders in the US in 2007, where he achieved the best marks among non-American officers taking part in the training. In 2009 (1430 Hijri), the Prince participated in the infantry battalion leaders course in the UAE. Prince Hashem has been sworn in as the Regent on several occasions and accompanied King Abdullah to several official functions. On January 6, 2006 (6th of Dhul Hijjah, 1426 Hijri), the Prince married HRH Princess Fahdah and they have three daughters: Haalat Al Noor, who was born in April 2007, Rayaat Al Noor, born in July 2008 and Fatima Al Alia, born in November 2011.
