Speaking at the opening of the Advisory Council meeting of Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), HRH Princess Lalla Amina said that thanks to HM King Mohammed VI’s solicitude and steadfast support for all national actors, Special Olympics Morocco succeeded in implementing its five-year plan (2006-2010) to enlarge the number of participants, introduce new sports, organize training sessions for supervisors and coaches, and hold sports competitions at the national and regional levels. HRH Princess Lalla Amina noted that achievements made in the MENA region for the benefit of athletes with metal disability are a tangible proof of the resolve of all parties concerned to strive doubly hard in order to achieve more accomplishments, in conformity with Special Olympics regional plan. The princess hailedthe job done by Sheikh Daij Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, president of international Advisory Council of Special Olympics for MENA, in terms of coordination and consultation with all Special Olympics’ actors in the region. She also lauded efforts made by Aymane Abdelouahab, president of Special Olympics MENA, to develop the region’s programs. She also commended action by the regional presidency to iron out problems which hamper the organization of this year’s regional games, through their substitution with a yearly program of sports competitions and training meant to improve the output of the region’s countries. She said she is convinced that all the parties will join forces to show the noteworthy evolution witnessed in the region, and ensure the success of programs of sports competitions provided for in the action plan of the year under way. “This meeting’s goal is to discuss new ideas in order to take advantage of past experiences and adopt new management mechanisms, according to a joint work plan,” she went on, hoping to see the council reach positive results.
