Amman – Osama Al Rantissi
The next few days are expected to witness the celebration of an awaited affinity between the royal family in Jordan and the ruling family in Qatar as the Qatari Prince Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, his wife Sheikha Mozah Al-Missned, and a number of Qatari officials are expected to pay a special visit to Jordan to announce the engagement of the Qatari Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Princess Iman bint al-Hussein. Princess Iman bint al-Hussein, the daughter of late king Hussein bin Talal and Queen Nour Al-Hussein, was born in 1983, and graduated at the Sandhurst Academy. Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani – the Qatari Crown Prince – was born in 1980, obtained his secondary school certificate at the Sherborne School in the UK in 1997, and graduated at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1998. He became Crown Prince in August 2003 after his brother Shaikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani relinquished the title to his brother. The Qatari Prince Hamad bin khalifa’s last visit to Jordan was in June 2009 in a short official visit after years of tensions between the two countries.
