Saudi defence minister Muhammad bin Salman

Saudi Second Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Muhammad bin Salman will lead his country's delegation to the New Suez Canal inauguration ceremony, the Saudi envoy in Cairo said Wednesday.

Ahmed bin Abdel Aziz Qattan congratulated Egypt on the inauguration of the New Suez Canal on Thursday, stressing that this great achievement was accomplished in a record time.

This giant project will be a key economic edifice in the whole Arab region and will positively affect Egypt at the political, economic and social levels, he said.

He added that Egypt is a key state in the whole world not just the Middle East region so that Saudi Arabia should back it.

He added that since President Abdel Fattah El Sisi took the helm, there is great change in everything. Egypt has held a successful economic conference, an Arab summit and opened several mammoth projects.

He noted that investments are flowing to Egypt due to confidence in Egypt and its leadership.
