Saudi King Salman Bin Abdel Aziz

Saudi King Salman Bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud arrived on Monday at Cairo University premises to receive the honorary doctorate degree.

The king was received by Cairo University President Gaber Nassar, who accompanied him to the main hall to attend the award ceremony.

The award ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and a host of ministers, the Giza governor, universities' presidents, Cairo university professors and staff and members of the diplomatic crops accredited to Egypt.

The award ceremony started by reciting verses of the Holy Quran, then a word by Cairo University President Dr. Gaber Nassar to welcome visiting Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

In his word, Nassar underlined that the university's council had unanimously agreed on bestowing the honorary doctorate on the Saudi king in appreciation of his great support to the university.

He also lauded King Salman's major achievements in service of the Arab nation.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nassar said the Saudi king's visit to Cairo University reflected the historic ties between the Kingdom and Egypt's premier public university that was established in 1908.

He further cited King Fahd bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud's visit to hospitals of El Kasr El Aini faculty of medicine in 1946, voicing his deep appreciation of the King Salman's launching of "historic" project to develop El Kasr El Aini hospital.

Nassar then handed over the honorary doctorate to the Saudi monarch in appreciation of his significant role at the regional and Arab levels and his considerable support of the university.

For his part, the Saudi king thanked Nassar for awarding him the university's honorary doctorate, underlining the university's valuable contributions to science not only in Egypt, but in the whole Arab world.

He further pledged the Saudi kingdom's support of the university to fulfill its scientific role in service of the Arab nation.
